Importance Of Sleep: During sleep the brain is very active engaging in important cycles of rest and recovery. Processes such as tissue repair, memory consolidation, hormone regulation and muscle memory occur to prepare for the day ahead. When the brain and body are deprived of adequate recovery time it impacts all the systems of the body, increasing susceptibility to illnesses, decreasing productivity and negatively influencing mood. The electrical efficiency of the brain is impacted by both the quantity and quality of sleep the it achieves. Less sleep decreases the brain’s ability to adapt and properly manage stress.
