Oatmeal Muffin Day

Oatmeal Muffin Day

December 19, 2017

Who knew there was a day specifically dedicated to oatmeal muffins? Lucky for all of us, someone decided oatmeal muffins were worthy of their own day. Because of that muffin-loving person, we had the perfect excuse to do some baking.

Muffins are pretty much universally liked – and not surprisingly so. Filled with sugar and carbs, what’s not to like?

Well, you might not like their nutrition facts. A typical blueberry muffin can weigh in at over 400 calories, have around 20 grams of fat, and close to 40 grams of sugar. Not to mention, they usually have bleached white flour and monosaturated fat from butter.

In order to celebrate Oatmeal Muffin Day without the guilt, we found a healthier recipe for you to try. At only 163 calories, this is a snack you can feel good about. We got this recipe from BrendDid.com and trust us, you won’t be disappointed.

This recipe replaces flour with toasted oatmeal, the moisture comes from mashed bananas, and honey is used as a sweetener instead of refined sugar.

On top of all that, they’re customizable too! Feel free to add in dried fruit, walnuts, or raisins and make this recipe your own.

Ready to get started? Find the recipe here, and don’t forget to let us know how they turn out!
